Light House Center for Children Foundation, Inc.

Mr. Masahiko Fujii, a past president of the Tokyo Koto Rotary Club, RI District 2580 saw in WCS Proj. ID No. WO3500 of the Rotaract Club of Quezon City North, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Quezon City North, D-3780, the fulfillment of his childhood dream of building a school for poor children. So he decided to support what is now known as Mr. Masahiko Fujii Light House Center for Children.

On March 19, 2001, he came to the Philippines together with his Rotarian friends from Tokyo Koto, PP Rev. Yoshiaki Toeda and International Director Mr. Yoshio Nakajima, to make his initial personal donation of US$30,000 for the project. He officiated in the groundbreaking ceremonies of the proposed 5-storey children’s center located at the National Government Center Housing Project in Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City, Metro Manila. The Rotary Club of Quezon City North, D-3780, constituted a construction committee composed of PP Gaston L. Gonzalez as chairman, PP Noel M. Dueñas, member and CP Lorenzo B. Veneracion as member and contact person, with Arch. PP Rogelio G. Villarosa as designer/architect and consultant. Construction of the proposed center’s foundation started immediately
thereafter. Mr. Fujii and his friends from Tokyo Koto Rotary Club returned to Manila on April 17, 2002 to deliver another US$30,000 for the project, followed by another visit on December 15, 2002 for another personal donation of US$30,000.

On December 13, 2003, Mr. Fujii, together with Mr. Yoshio Nakajima arrived again and delivered his fourth personal donation of US$30,000 for the project, making his personal donation for the project as of December, 2003, to US$120,000. On this occasion, he officiated in the unveiling of the commemorative marker in his honor. He has been awarded as honorary citizen of Quezon City, honorary member of the Rotary Club of Quezon City North, D-3780, honorary trustee of the Foundation for the Rotary Soup Kitchen, Food Bank & Training Center, Inc. and lifetime member of the Light House Center for Children Foundation, Inc. Considering the community being served by this proposed center is located in very depressed and disadvantaged area, the presence of the RI Logo says a thousand words in terms of our sensitivity to the needs of the disadvantaged children their families, our love and compassion to all, thus promoting international friendship, fellowship, peace and understanding between the peoples of Japan and of the Philippines.
